The grandMA3 compact console includes 8 192 control parameters as standard, making it an ideal choice for small and medium sized professional entertainment lighting applications. The system size is scalable to 250 000 parameters with the use of additional grandMA3 processing units.

The grandMA3 compact is compatible with grandMA2 and grandMA3 software. The grandMA3 lighting control consoles offer a fresh user interface with an optimized command area for intuitive and fast access.

The grandMA3 consoles features dual encoders, which provide users with intuitive control of additional features and functions. Feature-mapping of the dual encoders will be customizable, facilitating ease of use and faster programming.

Long-life motorized playback faders are used across the entire grandMA3 console range. The faders incorporate a color-changing light pipe. All playbacks have direct access to button pushes as well as intensity and timing changes thanks to the new rotary RGB backlit encoders.

The grandMA3 operating system is completely new and has been designed to feel more welcoming to fresh converts without alienating existing grandMA programmers. Extensive user feedback has been incorporated to ensure the new functionality address’ the real world needs of the MA family. The fundamental syntax of the grandMA2 has been preserved and extended to facilitate the new functionality.

The grandMA3 software has an elegant new system-architecture incorporating new fixture, feature and effects-handling at its very heart. These ground-breaking concepts from top industry visionaries, are presented within a refined user interface, and are designed to make practical tasks more intuitive. Selecting fixtures, adjusting values, storing presets and playing back cues should all feel familiar, but improved in many details of the process.

Better overview, faster access and more accurate information will create an improved user experience in programming and busking a show.

Fixture information is now generic and allows simpler sharing of programmed data between fixtures. We also support the new GDTF (General Device Type Format) natively, allowing fixture manufactures to ensure their own fixtures are controlled as intended.

MA Lighting Processing Unit L

Expanding the grandMA3 system is simple with addition of grandMA3 processing units! The grandMA3 processing unit L expands the system by 8 192 parameters and offers frame-synchronous calculation of the parameters within the MA-Net3 environment. Designed for larger systems, the L model offers a more cost effective and compact solution for parameter expansion. Additionally, the grandMA3 processing unit L offers a Mode2 to expand existing grandMA2 systems by 4 096 parameters.

The grandMA3 processing units are designed for rack mounting and all models are only 2RU, allowing for efficient touring solutions. Each model is equipped with 8 DMX outputs for frame-synchronous DMX output throughout the network. Additional frame-synchronous DMX outputs are available with the addition of grandMA3 xPort Nodes.

grandMA3 processing units offer a perfect system overview on the integrated touchscreen. This easy access to important functions allows for best maintenance if installed in a dedicated rack whilst every function can be monitored from the grandMA3 session.

For larger systems it is suggested to keep the grandMA3 processing units in a centralized position for parameter expansion and to use grandMA3 xPort Nodes to distribute and output the frame-synchronous DMX data.

MA NPU

ma_npu

With an easy to read touchscreen the MA NPU allows intuitive use and easy access to all the important information. 8 x DMX XLR 5-pin connectors on the rear side of the MA NPU allow a most flexible use within the network environment.

The MA NPU  is the link between Ethernet and DMX controlled devices. The MA NPU adds processing power and parameters to the MA system. For decentralized DMX networks, the MA NPU converts incoming Ethernet data into DMX data. The converted data are transmitted via 8 independent DMX connectors, which can be configured as DMX inputs or outputs.
Within a network, several grandMA2 consoles share the available MA NPU devices. For parameter expansion the MA NPU shall be located in a centralized position, whereas MA xPort Nodes are used to distribute and output DMX data. This allows DMX devices being used by several consoles together, and it provides a redundant mode of operation without additional components such as DMX mergers.

MA NSP

nsp2

For decentralised DMX networks, the MA NSP (Network Signal Processor) converts the incoming Ethernet data into DMX512-A data. For data conversion, two Ethernet protocols are supported: MA-Net and Art-Net.

Data output is by means of four independent DMX connectors, two of which can also be configured as DMX inputs. The MA NSP features an intuitive menu structure, four function keys and an encoder wheel for easy configuration. A backlit LC-display with two lines of text shows all of the important information and the operating status. For professional application and maximum flexibility, the MA NSP is built in a 19” housing which is only 1U in height.

You may choose between different modes of operation when using the MA NSP. Depending on your application, a MA NSP can convert DMX inputs and outputs in an Ethernet network, serve as a DMX merger or booster, or even expand your grandMA System by additional parameters. In conjunction with grandMA2 consoles, the MA NSP can also work as a 4PortNode.

In an MA System, the MA NSP can be used as a decentralised channel expansion for all grandMA consoles (except grandMA micro + grandMA pico). For this purpose, not only the DMX signals are distributed among the MA NSP, but so are all calculations necessary. With MA NSP, the grandMA console becomes a powerful multi-processor system. The fast, bidirectional data exchange between the grandMA console and the MA NSP ensures that DMX data output on all MA NSP units is perfectly synchronized. Each MA NSP can calculate 2,048 parameters. A maximum of 16 MA NSP can be used for the output of 64 DMX lines (32,768 channels).

In a network, several consoles share the MA NSPs available. This easily allows the shared use of DMX enabled devices as well as provides for a redundant mode of operation without additional components such as DMX mergers.

Any MA NSP connected to grandMA onPC allows the software to send “real” DMX data. A total of two MA NSP can be connected to a grandMA onPC.
This converts grandMA onPC into a full-featured lighting control system for up to 8 DMX lines. When used in a shared network with a grandMA lighting console and one or more MA NSPs, grandMA onPC becomes a full-tracking backup system for up to 16,348 parameters.

MA onPC Command Wing

gma2CommandWing

The MA onPC command wing paves the way for mobile use of the highly flexible and powerful grandMA2 control system. In combination with the free of charge grandMA2 onPC software, the MA onPC command wing is a portable 2,048 parameter control solution that can be used in nearly any location – and all for an affordable price. It offers two built-in DMX ports as well as the possibilty to send two additional DMX universes via Ethernet.

Designed as the perfect hardware expansion to the grandMA2 onPC software, the MA onPC command wing enables the look and feel of the software to be as close to a real grandMA2 console as possible. Thanks to the MA onPC command wing – incorporating the command section of the grandMA2 consoles – it has never been easier to use the grandMA2 onPC software. With a simple USB connection between the MA onPC command wing and the computer running the grandMA2 onPC software, all inputs and outputs of a grandMA2 console are available to the user. DMX, Midi, Timecode and Analogue Remote are all on hand directly at the MA onPC command wing.

Wherever it is physically difficult to use a grandMA2 console, the MA onPC command wing, in conjunction with the grandMA2 onPC software, enables the customer to program or playback within the grandMA2 world. Therefore the MA onPC command wing is ideal to be used as a backup solution within the grandMA2 system, as powerful control solution on the road or for smaller theatres, shows and clubs or for preprogramming.

It is also possible to add more faders by connecting the MA onPC fader wing to the MA onPC command wing. Moreover the MA onPC fader wing provides additional 2,048 parameters and four DMX lines. The MA 8Port Node onPC and MA 4Port Node onPC will add 2,048 parameters and eight or four DMX lines respectively.
