MA Lighting Processing Unit XL

The grandMA3 processing unit XL is the ultimate parameter expansion solution offering substantial cost and size savings. It’s the simplest way to design grandMA3 lighting control systems with up to 250 000 parameters. The powerful CPU ensures frame-synchronous calculation of 16 384 parameters within the MA-Net3 environment. Additionally, the grandMA3 processing unit XL offers a Mode2 to expand existing grandMA2 systems by 4 096 parameters.

The grandMA3 processing units are designed for rack mounting and all models are only 2RU, allowing for efficient touring solutions. Each model is equipped with 8 DMX outputs for frame-synchronous DMX output throughout the network. Additional frame-synchronous DMX outputs are available with the addition of grandMA3 xPort Nodes.

grandMA3 processing units offer a perfect system overview on the integrated touchscreen. This easy access to important functions allows for best maintenance if installed in a dedicated rack whilst every function can be monitored from the grandMA3 session.

For larger systems it is suggested to keep the grandMA3 processing units in a centralized position for parameter expansion and to use grandMA3 xPort Nodes to distribute and output the frame-synchronous DMX data.

MA NSP

nsp2

For decentralised DMX networks, the MA NSP (Network Signal Processor) converts the incoming Ethernet data into DMX512-A data. For data conversion, two Ethernet protocols are supported: MA-Net and Art-Net.

Data output is by means of four independent DMX connectors, two of which can also be configured as DMX inputs. The MA NSP features an intuitive menu structure, four function keys and an encoder wheel for easy configuration. A backlit LC-display with two lines of text shows all of the important information and the operating status. For professional application and maximum flexibility, the MA NSP is built in a 19” housing which is only 1U in height.

You may choose between different modes of operation when using the MA NSP. Depending on your application, a MA NSP can convert DMX inputs and outputs in an Ethernet network, serve as a DMX merger or booster, or even expand your grandMA System by additional parameters. In conjunction with grandMA2 consoles, the MA NSP can also work as a 4PortNode.

In an MA System, the MA NSP can be used as a decentralised channel expansion for all grandMA consoles (except grandMA micro + grandMA pico). For this purpose, not only the DMX signals are distributed among the MA NSP, but so are all calculations necessary. With MA NSP, the grandMA console becomes a powerful multi-processor system. The fast, bidirectional data exchange between the grandMA console and the MA NSP ensures that DMX data output on all MA NSP units is perfectly synchronized. Each MA NSP can calculate 2,048 parameters. A maximum of 16 MA NSP can be used for the output of 64 DMX lines (32,768 channels).

In a network, several consoles share the MA NSPs available. This easily allows the shared use of DMX enabled devices as well as provides for a redundant mode of operation without additional components such as DMX mergers.

Any MA NSP connected to grandMA onPC allows the software to send “real” DMX data. A total of two MA NSP can be connected to a grandMA onPC.
This converts grandMA onPC into a full-featured lighting control system for up to 8 DMX lines. When used in a shared network with a grandMA lighting console and one or more MA NSPs, grandMA onPC becomes a full-tracking backup system for up to 16,348 parameters.

Swisson XND 4

XND-4 and XND-8 nodes are user friendly sACN and Art-Net to DMX converter supporting the distribution of up to eight universes of DMX via individually optically isolated DMX ports, each configurable as input or output. Since most major lighting consoles are capable of transmitting Art-Net data, an XND node is all you need in order to take advantage of your console’s networking capability, allowing you to transmit a vast number of universes over one single network cable. In some cases, users may profit from already existing networking infrastructure.

Furthermore, the XND-4 or XND-8 is also perfectly suited to send DMX data to your fixtures from a computer or even from a mobile device. Many light controller programs for PC or Mac support Art-Net output natively and with the help of XND’s DHCP capability, you can even let your workplace network infrastructure do the network configuration of your XND automatically for you.

With its 128×64 pixels OLED display however, configuring the network and setting up your Art-Net or sACN preferences manually is no trouble at all and helpful status information is always at hand.

If two controllers send data to the same universe, XND-4 and XND-8 nodes automatically merge the DMX data, which makes the integration of a second lighting controller straightforward and may prove helpful for fixture testing during the setup of an installation.
